Philadelphia Beer Week: Friday Shortlist

Philadelphia Beer Week kicks off today. The Daily News has put together an exhaustive guide to the week's events, which we heartily recommend you read.

But let's get down to the important stuff: What's happening tonight.

Over in East Falls, Mayor Nutter and beer columnist Joe Sixpack are kicking off PBW with a beer sampling at The Marketplace. $60 gets you access to kegs from 22 local breweries and brewpubs, accompanied by gourmet food from 7-10:30pm. Mayor Nutter, we love ya... but why kick off Philly Beer Week in such a public transportation-unfriendly location?

Meanwhile, Center City gastropub Good Dog is holding a "Meet the Brewer" event with Casey Hughes of Flying Fish... The Northeast's Grey Lodge Pub is holding an event for Sprecher Brewing (both at 7) and another Meet the Brewer event is taking place at Standard Tap for Sly Fox. Meanwhile, Tria's Fermentation School is holding the $50 "Beer and Cheese: A Victorious Combo" workshop.
