Closed, For Real This Time: RJ Gator's

rjgators.gif It's officially over: every last one of the RJ Gator's locations is closed. After a bankruptcy, a sale, and another bankruptcy, the tanking economy finally pulled the plug on the chain that was on life support.

After more than 20 years of business, R.J. Gator's Florida Sea Grill & Bar is closing all of its remaining locations and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Late Thursday night, employees were told not to return to work. A notice posted on the door of all locations Friday said: "Due to the economic downturn we have been forced to close. … We truly have appreciated your business over the last 21 years."

As many as 150 employees are now out of a job.

Only three RJ Gator's were left in the South Florida area: one in Boynton Beach, another in Jupiter and one in Ft Lauderdale. So those are now gone. Guess it's time to start looking for a new watering hole.
